Bio:Sarah Serfling specializes in colt-starting, liberty, groundwork, and bridleless riding. She enjoys working through tricky behavioral and riding issues between horse and owner, and she emphasizes the importance of thinking from the horse’s perspective. Sarah has studied with top horse trainers in the liberty and dressage disciplines, including Sylvia Zerbini of Cavalia and the Ringling Bros., Kim and Yvonne Barteau of Arabian Nights, Road to the Horse competitor Dan James, USDF gold medalist and ParaOlympic chef d'equipe Kai Handt, Joan Myrthue of the "World Famous" Lipizzaner Stallions touring production, and Mark Tarver, a certified Clinton Anderson instructor. She also worked as a sound engineer for music venues in Dallas, including Trees, South Side Music Hall, the Theatre at Grand Prairie, and the Rustic Dallas. Sarah recently served as Technical Director to the Dancing Horses Theatre in during its summer 2020 season and taught riding lessons at Tuskey Dressage, home of the equine theatre "Synergy." In January 2021, Sarah became a certified ILHA judge for the bareback and bridleless classes. Most recently, in March 2022, Sarah continued her professional education by participating in a Mark Rashid clinic with her mare, Moonshine.Inspired by the equine theatre and music industries, Sarah implements an expressive, kinetic, and multi-disciplinary approach towards equine-facilitated learning in order to promote global peace and help humans learn nonviolent conflict resolution. She believes that humans and equine of all ages and walks of life can mutually benefit and experience enrichment from mindful communication and purposeful coexistence.In 2021, Sarah served as head trainer to LB Equine Sales, a consignment sales barn in Terrell, TX. After a successful tenure at LB Equine, in which she received a raise and two bonuses, appeared in thirteen sale horse videos in under five months, and was sponsored to take a four-hour private lesson with Mark How, 3x British Reining National Champion and member of the 2006 WEG British Reining Team. Starting in January of 2022, Sarah now offers her own sales and consignment program.Sarah also currently serves as head trainer and creative director to the Equiatude Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes equine-assisted learning and racehorse rescue.
