August 2020 Newsletter

Your August Newsletter from WDAA

President's Letter

Dear Friends, Thank you to everyone who has sent messages in support of our decision to transform our 2020 WDAA World Show to an online format. WDAA staff, World Show staff, and I appreciate all of your offers of assistance and ideas as well as your questions. Decisions regarding the show format have been made and I assure you that our show team is working like crazy to get the details of the show, including the new prize list to you as soon as possible.

To emulate a live show as much as possible, the WDAA 2020 Online World Championship Show will be different from other online shows in several ways:

  • Exhibitors will enter the show before recording their tests. After entries close, exhibitors will receive personalized signs for each class entered, to print and display in the beginning of each video. There will be a different sign for each class.
  • WDAA State Affiliates will have the option of hosting award parties (when they can do so while complying with their State’s current COVID19 control measures). Exhibitors will be able to specify on entry forms whether they would like their awards sent to their homes or to their affiliate of choice.
  • Show stewards will review submitted videos before sending them to judges.
  • Results will be available to view as soon as they come in through showsecretary.com
  • Prizes will include the choice of jackets or vests for class winners, buckles for division winners, rosettes for the top ten in each class, huge rosettes for top ten in each division, high score awards for affiliate members, the silver spur award, high score awards for every horse breed represented and more including the bragging rights that come with earning a World Championship.

WDAA’s World Show Team including our staff, contractors, and volunteers are trail blazing at lightning speed to bring you what I think will be the largest online horse show the World has ever seen. How exciting it is to be a part of this event at this time in history. This is absolutely a year that none of us will ever forget!

In addition to the online World Championship Show, WDAA members have lots to look forward to! Our talented member education committee is getting ready to launch fantastic learning modules and fun quizzes on our members only, Learning Management System (LMS). Also, our amazing test writing committee is making good progress developing new tests to be rolled-out in 2022.

As always, the best way to offer feedback or suggestions or ask questions about the show or anything else regarding WDAA is through [email protected]. This way, WDAA staff can serve you best, making sure your correspondence is directed appropriately and questions are answered promptly. We may miss your suggestions posted on social media. Texts and phone calls are more difficult than emails for us to share with appropriate team members.

Thank you all for embracing the spirit of Western Dressage, enjoying the twists and turns along the journey,

Cindy Butler,
Your President Western Dressage Association of America
