Why the Western Dressage Association® Needs You!

The past thirty years have witnessed a revolution in the treatment and training of horses. From the seeds planted by men such as Tom and Bill Dorrance have grown new and more humane methods of starting colts and finishing performance horses. Light hands, subtle cues, and an appreciation for the ultimate benefits derived from a true partnership between horse and rider have all led to a revolution in Western horsemanship. It was only natural that at some point on this journey east would meet west, english would meet western, Classical Dressage would meet the spirit of the western horse, and the best of both ways would come together as one in Western Dressage.

Today is that new day: a revolution in Western horsemanship. At the brink of every revolution there are the Pioneers who will step up to start the the journey, to break a new trail, and cross the divide. Our goal as a non-profit organization, the Western Dressage Association® of America, is to give every horse and rider the opportunity to develop a harmonious partnership through the practice of Western Dressage. We also hope to realize the dream of making Western Dressage a recognized affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation.

Equally important is the goal of preserving and protecting the place we call the American West. Its majestic and awe-inspiring beauty is a fitting setting for horses and the people who love them. Your donation will help us in our efforts to maintain the home of all western horses. Through our support of trail conservancy programs, land conservation, access for all horseback riders to park and open space trails,  our commitment to continued use of show arenas and rodeo grounds, and in working for the rights of horse owners, the WDAA will strive to keep the horse a part of the West for future generations.
